Bravo Cath! You should get your face on the cover of " The Rolling Stone" and your Blues Fest story inside it. Loved and lived your musical memories can't wait to read some of those Jaipur books.
Currently reading"The People Smuggler" by Robin de Crespigny- a real eye opener- and am looking forward to a book talk with the author and the smuggler next week !
Didn't make your 3000th- boy are you getting popular!

hello cathryn ,

i see you had a good time in jaipur, was looking at the books that you mentioned and your views and thoughts about them, it really makes you want to read them all,
in particular salman rushdie's books, im looking forward to read :

Midnight's Children. The book is surrealist fiction that deals with the history of India from 1910 to the declaration of independence.

cheers

Yet again you have transported me with your descriptions of Jaipur and what sounds like an amazing festival. plus you have heard my favourite person in the world. meeting him is on my bucket list! Sorry about the early morning text but all in a good cause. Can't wait to hear about the masked ball. Keep up the good work and have fun, I know you will. I have just started reading JK Rowlings Casual Vacancy'. I am hopeful that it will improve as life is too short to read bad literature!

Hi Cathy and Bruce, There is no keeping good people down is there? I am jealous that I am not with you this time but as you know I bought an apartment instead but hope to be there next year so you are really whetting my appetite for the Jaipur Festival 2014. What am I reading? When unpacking my books I found two books by Paul Gallico - Mrs Harris Goes to Paris and Mrs Harris Goes to New York. I have no idea where they came from but loved both and went out and bought The Snow Goose and Mrs Harris Goes to Moscow by the same author - both also excellent - nothing taxing, just fun. Prior to that I read the lastest Kate Mosse - Citadel - which I have passed on to Cheryl. I loved it! Mosse goes between two different times in history and then connects them so well. This time it is a member of the Cathars and the French Resistance in Carcassone. A real page turner. My Book Club starts back early next month so tonight I am starting Salman Rushdie's - Haroun and the Sea Stories. We had a choice between that one and his new biography - I chose the Sea Stories because of being time poor as a result of the move. I know you would both be having a great time so continue to enjoy and I look forward to reading your updates.

Here I am again- your No 1 fan! Other readers of Cathy's fabulous blog get off your bums and put in some comments! Loving following your Indian travels on the blog- great photos and it all seems so easy! And not hot and crowded! Can't wait to hear about the festival. And for the literary bit- I'm reading "Happy Valley" - a very early Patrick White and am surprised- don't know why?- to be really enjoying it!

Missed being your 1000th hit!!Iam looking forward to keeping up with your literary musings from the Jaipur Festival. I have just finished reading "The Book of Negroes" by Lawrence Hill a compelling novel about slavery and the horrific lives and experiences of the enslaved- based on histrical facts. Next read is "The Last Nizam."

Loved your new blog entries and catching up on what you are reading. I had a long literary conversation on the phone today- funny, never thought of it like that but a lot of my conversations are about books. Try reading "BEHIND THE BEAUTIFUL FOREVERS" by Katherine Boo a narrative non-fiction about life in a Mumbai slum - a slice of sad, gritty Indian life.
